How to enrich a spreadsheet with company data
Enriching a list of companies used to mean copy-pasting from a dozen tabs. Here is a faster way that runs on your Mac, keeps your data private, and puts a source on every cell.
Step by step
Get your list into a sheet
Open or paste your list of companies into Octopi — one company per row. A single column of names is enough to start.
Describe the columns you want
In plain English, say what to add: “for each company, add its website, industry and a verified work email.” Octopi compiles a workflow from that.
Run and review the sources
Octopi researches each row and fills the columns, with a clickable source on every value — spot-check a few, then let it finish the list.
Export or push to your CRM
Save the enriched sheet, or have Octopi create the matching records in Salesforce or HubSpot, deduped and verified.
| Before | After Octopi |
|---|---|
| Nvidia | nvidia.com · Semiconductors · media@nvidia.com valid |
| Spotify | spotify.com · Music streaming · press@spotify.com valid |
A single column of names becomes a researched, source-cited sheet.
Tips for good results
Name the columns you want
The clearer your plain-English request, the cleaner the output — name each column and any format you need.
Trust, then verify
Every cell has a source; skim a few early rows to confirm the run is on track before doing the whole list.
Bring providers when needed
Public sources cover a lot; add your own API keys for premium enrichment or email data.
It stays on your Mac
The whole run — list, model and results — is local, so sensitive lists never leave your machine.
Questions
What data can I add to each company?
Website, industry, size, location, description, social profiles and verified work emails — plus anything else you can describe and that a source or your providers can supply.
Do I need to write formulas?
No. You describe the columns in plain English and Octopi compiles the workflow — there’s nothing to script.
How do I know the data is right?
Every value carries a clickable source you can open and check, and email statuses come from your verifier (valid, invalid, catch-all or unknown).
Can I enrich a CSV?
Yes. Bring a CSV or spreadsheet, enrich it, and export the result or push the rows into your CRM.
